Company Spotlight: Nazca Corporation

Some companies had such a fleeting existence in the video game industry that it's easy to forget they ever existed. Nazca was a Japanese developer made up mainly of former Irem employees, who brought their expertise to release two games on SNK's Neo Geo hardware:

• Neo Turf Masters (1996)
• Metal Slug: Super Vehicle-001 (1996)

While Neo Turf Masters is still fondly remembered, it was Metal Slug that had the biggest impact, with its gorgeous pixel art and non-stop action from start to finish.

SNK were so impressed that they acquired Nazca, whose staff continued developing the Metal Slug series under SNK up to Metal Slug 3.
