Neo-Geo CD

Cancelled titles are prototypes and unreleased games that were announced or in development but never reached commercial release. These include early prototypes, tech demos shown at trade shows, and titles abandoned during development. Some exist as playable builds that have since surfaced in the preservation community, offering a fascinating glimpse into what might have been for the platform's library.

Pre-production titles are games that were released commercially but exist in early manufacturing runs or test versions...

Promotional cartridges were specially produced for retail kiosks, press events, or internal demonstrations. Not For Resale (NFR) versions and store demo units fall into this category. These rarities were never sold to the public and often feature unique packaging or modified content.

These are the commercially released games that made it to retail shelves during the platform’s active lifespan. This forms the core of its library and includes everything from first-party classics to third-party releases across all regions tracked in the database.

Re-releases include budget line reissues (such as Player's Choice), compilation cartridges, and titles republished with revised packaging or minor content updates. These represent games successful enough to warrant a second commercial run during the platform's active years.

Non-lifespan releases are homebrew games, reproduction cartridges, and modern releases created after the platform's commercial lifespan ended. These demonstrate the platform's enduring appeal and the dedication of its preservation community.
